Here is my experience:

I brought my dog into the clinic because she was vomiting after eating.

On the first visit, I was told the dog most likely had IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).  After X-ray was taken, they changed their story and told me she had stomach ulcer.  They treated her for the condition.  A week later, there was absolutely no improvement whatsoever in the dog's condition.

On the second visit a week later, I was told the dog needed more X-ray exams. After more X-ray exams, one of the vets told me with confidence that dog had a foreign object in her stomach.  She also made it very clear that I had no choice but subject her to a major surgery immediately. The vet opened the dog up top to bottom, and found nothing.  I was then told that the dog had an abnormally in a section of her small intestine.  It looked 'red, infected, and angry'. Biopsies were done on both her stomach and her intestine.  A few days later, both biopsies came back negative.

The vet at the office then told me the dog had motility problem (lack of movement in her GI track, as I understood.).  One of the drugs she was taking would help with the condition.  Another week of treatment later, there was again absolutely no improvement.  The vet then told me they did not know what was wrong with the dog and asked me to take the dog to a specialist.  Basically, after more than two weeks of time, numerous X-ray exams, heaps of pills, a major surgery, two biopsies and more than $2000 later, they knew nothing about the condition of the dog.  AND this was not the end of it.

Two weeks after the surgery, I took the dog back to the clinic to remove the suture. To my amazement, after all was said and done, they left one staple in the suture.  I found this when I got the dog home.  I called the office to lodge my complaint.  The vet had the guts to accuse me of making a big fuss over a single staple, as if I was the one to blame because I got upset over their sloppiness.

[The above are facts surrounding my whole experience.  Below is my opinion, please separate these two when you read this posting]

I expected top quality in services, as the clinic is one of the more expensive ones in the area.  I am just appalled at their professional skills and the way they treated their clients.  What I dislike the most about the vets working at this clinic is the way they led you believe they knew what was wrong with the dog, but in fact they did not.  They recommended treatment options based on their half baked hypothesis, and made it sound like that’s your ONLY option.  They practically changed their story on every visit.  I am not a vet.  I read about the disease they diagnosed my dog with, even I could tell the symptoms were not consistent with the cause.  That made you question if they had other motives in mind other than the welfare of the animal.  I now have absolutely no confidence whatsoever in their professional skills, and am on the verge of questioning their ethics.  I am also upset with the way they treat their clients.  I would most certainly not recommend this clinic to anyone, not in a million years.

I hope your dog survived !!! Mine died in agony after totally unnecessary useless surgery!!! I have complained to the College and am waiting (FOREVER!!) for outcome..however, I have been informed by other owners, that basically nothing will be done about it !! You can MAYBE go to small claims and ask for money back. Thats about all the punishment these rotten vets get !! Seems to be a growing number, since there's no consequences for anything they do !!! But how can a 'human being' do such things to an animal and have the nerve to hide behind their 'degree' !! And if you try to EXPOSE THEM, then YOU will suffer along with your poor pets !! Great profession for animal abusers eh! Similar to pedophiles who become priests!! SICK HUMANS who should NEVER be allowed to continue to abuse at 'free will'

Your poor dog!! You should file a complaint with the CVO (vet college Guelph), and the 'complaints committee' will investigate, BUT..one of the 'members' on that 'committee' is L.BRANGERS!! How convienient!! Bet the 'committee' would find NO WRONGDOING WHATSOEVER! Of course, you'll have to wait almost a year to get their 'decision'! That seems to be the 'standard handling' of more than 95% of all complaints filed!! NO DISCIPLINE NEEDED!!Their whole 'process' is a total farce, allowing these 'greedy idiots' to continue abusing our pets just for the MONEY!!! Let us know if you DO file!! It would be quite interesting to see their response to this complaint !!
