Dr. Bawden literally saved my life. I had previously been traumatized by another psychiatrist who had played me like a violin and had succeeded in diminishing my spirit by repeated emotional abuse. I no longer cared about my family,my friends or my life.I  had been told that I would have to wait for another psychiatrist for six months. At the end of six months,I phoned DR. Bawden and said,on her answering machine,that I did not know how much longer I could be alone with this trauma and needed help NOW! Dr. Bawden personally phoned me that same day and booked an appointment. She has been a supporting person in my life for six years. She helped me to find some strength and confidence and listened to innumerable teary stories for months. She helped me to laugh again. I am one of those highly sensitive people who is so easily hurt as much now as when I was a child. I've never been able to develop a barrier- a protective boundary. I have never understood cruelty. I was a proverbial basket case. Dr. Bawden helped me realize that I had value and that I mattered and that eventually I would be strong again.AShe showed me how to like myself. It has taken me years to recover and now, in 2008, I can say that I am strong and confident , albeit quite a different person from six years ago. Dr. Bawden taught me how to establish inner boundaries so that I would not be exploited. She is intelligent sensitive,warm and kind. How could she not be? She is a cat person-like I am!
