Not given I've seen Dr. Cooper since 2002.  He usually sees me immediately when I enter the building..being that within 5 minutes.  Dr. Cooper always has been right on the money as far as knowing what was wrong, and even found something that two other doctors had missed prior.  I didn't realize I had asthma; after treatment with an inhaler, life is completely better for me.  Dr. Cooper also helped against a local corporate giant in that I was being blackballed for medical discharge from the company, and Dr. Cooper stood up for me and helped prove that the company was lying.  I completely gained respect for Dr. Cooper for standing up to this corporate giant, despite gaining nothing from me, nor any media attention.  Lately, he's been a pillar in my recovery in dealing with personal issues that have caused some medical problems collaterally.

He's a great man, and definitely has honor.  I've yet to see anything negative as the other posters claim.  In my 30+ visits (altogether with other family visits,) nothing has ever been of detriment in any treatment or service rendered.  Dr. Cooper has gone above and beyond at least twice for me, in helping during after hours.

I, at this point, feel the staff, of which I have no knowledge, shouldn't have a reflection upon Dr. Cooper in that captioned by this logic:  If you are at Wal-mart, for example, and a cashier gives marginal service, it doesn't mean that their manager, nor Wal-mart itself, is bad.  Dr Cooper's minions' behavior, as explained in the other posts - if accurate - needs to be brought to his attention outright.  A doctor cannot know of his staff's attitude if not informed, personally.

I was a patient of Dr. Cooper's for many years. I once thought he was a wonderful doctor. Fortunately I woke up. Since finding a new doctor, my health has been great. I was so overmedicated by Cooper that my health was getting worse. My husband and daughter were also overmedicated. Has he put you on antidepressants and Xanax? Those are his favorites. Comparing his office of 3-5 employees to Wal-Mart ( thousands of employees) is ridiculous. Before I left I heard numerous complaints regarding his new staff. He knows what is going on. It was his decision to replace the former staff. I have spoken to one of the former staff and what he did to them was not something a man of 'honor' would do. Maybe I was not behind the scenes, but I can tell you that the former staff was amazing. They were truly caring and I could count on them. The new staff is rude and act like they don't have time to care. His decisions regarding his business ARE a true reflection of the kind of person he really is. All I have left to say to you and any other patient of Cooper's is--BE CAREFUL.

The office is his to run as he sees fit.  Upon what medical background do you find it relative and appropriate to claim he prescribes any form of medicine without merit?  Such claims seem more based upon opinion, seemingly unfounded, rather than rendered by logic, lest one be discontent.

While the office may be his to run as he sees fit, I do believe the powers that be set up guidelines and a degree doesn't justify a drug pusher.  I have no personal knowledge of this physician but anyone that would make such a retarded statement as such needs to be a little more education in what a medical degree will/willnot allow.  The title MD or DO doesn't give freedom to drug the world.  While this may or maynot be the case here, the DEA does regulate.

Based on opinion?  It sounds like the patient above is stating what was based on her experience as both patient and observing family member.  I would tag that experience as well as observation.  Opinions would be the insane Wal-Mart comment as well as 'man of honor'.  Of course, this is my 'opinion'.  Than again, isn't this board about sharing experience and opinion?

Lol...'lest one be discontent'. Learn the english language before trying to sound like you know what you're talking about.

I based my comments on the medical knowledge of my new doctor and on my experience. My doctor told me I was on unnecessary meds. I feel better than ever after discontinuing these meds. My daughter was like a zombie on the meds that Cooper pushed on her. I KNOW that she got away from this man who calls himself a doctor just in time. My opinion is based on experience and logic --how dare you question that. Cooper is a danger to his patients. This site is helpful to those who are seeking a doctor. I share my opinion, not lightly, in order to warn those who may consider Cooper. These people can weigh the positive and negative and make their decisions. I do not question the reasons behind your comments; give me the same respect.

I, too, have been a patient of Dr. Keith Cooper for several years. In fact, I was seeing him before he went into private practice. I used to refer all of my friends and family to him. No more. I first noticed things being a little odd when his entire staff was replaced with temporary staff, and then again the temporary staff disappeared with what I assume are his new permanent staff. The new nurse seems like a nursing school reject, like she scraped by the skin of her teeth. She is very ditzy and often asks me the same questions multiple times. The front office staff are rude, they don't get things done in a timely manner and they don't return phone calls.
Then I have noticed a change in how Dr. Cooper practices. He used to take time to talk to me. He would show that he truly cared as a doctor about my health. He would remember things from previous discussions and when he made diagnoses he would take time to explain them to me. He doesn't doesn't do that anymore. He just shoves prescriptions at you, or suggests procedures you may or may not really need and sends you out confused.
The only thing changing for the better is the interior design of his office, which I frankly don't understand why he seems to care more about paint color and comfy chairs than retaining his patients and offering them quality care.
My fiance and I are both currently looking for a new doctor.

Must be a lonely life to keep posting negative and try to portray yourself as more than one person

Comments by FormerBeliever on 02/20/08, 11:11 am

xx, I think you are the one who is portraying yourself as more than one person. It is obvious that you are the author of several of these comments supporting Cooper. You are entitled to your opinion as we are, but own up to your identity. Are you his wife? It seems your comments are from someone who has something to gain from Cooper's reputation. We are simply former patients who are trying to warn others of his incompetence--what are you trying to do? You are simply trying to insult those of us who have legitimate complaints and intelligent people will see that. Keep it up--prospective patients will see this and run as far as possible from this 'doctor'.

Just browsing here, but it's quite clear after reading all of the posts that the negativity is focused more on the change of staff rather than this doctor.  It would be fair to assume that the disgruntled former employee(s) would be sharing their opinion at this point.  Each posts hits on the fact of faculty change.  That is irrelevant.  If someone wants a nice car, they go to the BMW dealership, Lexus dealership etc.  Why?  For the car.  Not for the salespeople.  The CARE this doctor provides has met standards put forth by this state.  This doctor is competent and has no reports of any impropriety, as I've checked with the Indiana medical board.  This nurse, as someone so ignorantly claimed 'got by the skin of her teeth' received her degree.  It has standards, as does the medical profession.

I highly suggest the author of the negativity find a new job, and get on with their life.

Looks like you haven't been reading the comments fully. He over medicates, doesn't spend time explaining, etc. This has everything to do  with COOPER. His decision to replace an entire competent staff speaks to his decision making skills which are questionable at best. When my family went there he didn't even have a nurse so are you sure this new person is actually licensed? You claim to be 'just browsing' but seem to know of the situation personally. The 'care' this 'doctor' provides has yet to be determined to meet the state's standards. My original comments included the staff because it DOES make a difference in my decision to go to a doctor. If I went to buy a car and the salsperson was a jerk I would go elsewhere. I don't know about the other former patients but I have a job and I would suggest you take your own advice. It is quite obvious that YOU have made the only positive comments here.

Just to add an additional comment to this obviously 'intense' discussion.....

I too loved Dr. Cooper when he practiced elsewhere. Once he moved to his new office, he changed. I had heard through the hospital rumor mill that he was having some personal problems, so, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Things only got worse. He gave me what sounds like his standard cocktail, antidepressants and xanax. I was completely over medicated and miserable. When I complained of stomach pain, he told me I was bi-polar. Needless to say, I'm not bi-polar and actually went to a MEC doctor to find out I needed surgery!!!! not more medication!!

Anyway, physicians do make mistakes. And people deserve to know about the good and the bad...and then form their own opinion. I don't know about any other staff issues, and do know the 'original' staff. My opinion is based solely on my experience. My family and I have moved on and have continued to hear negative things about this physician.

Best of luck in your search.
