2005 |
1)while in dr office having a scheduled echocardiogram (9/30/2005), I was experiencing chest tightness and having trouble breathing. I asked to speak with the doctor. when the echocardiogram tech approached the nurse explaining my symptoms and requesting a discussion with the doctor, he was told " if she feels that bad tell her to go outside and call 911, we have no time to deal with this today". Obviously this statement speaks volumes about the care and attitude of this medical office.
2) upon followup visit (11/1/2005) a drug (paxil ) was perscribed that I was not comfortable in taking. It was clearly explained that the stress I was experiencing was localized ( consulting project requiring 16 hour days and travel) and that I did not want to take any perscription medicine that was either addictive or had severe side effects. I contacted the office after researching this drug and explained my concern. The nurse refused to let me speak with the doctor and stated " she would like you to take this medicine, there are no other options to be discussed sorry we can not help you any further." I ended up treating the stress with medition, and excercise and no longer have any stress related symptoms. I am glad I did not start taking Paxil. It this case, it appears that the doctors relationship to the drug company is stronger than her relationship to her patients.
3) My initial visit for check tightness and shortness of breath was on 9/8/2005. An echocardiogram was scheduled by the doctor to be administered in her office by a third party. This was scheduled on 9/30/05. On 10/4/2005 the results were faxed to the doctors office. On 10/5/2005 a letter was sent to my home advising me to make an appointment to follow up on the results. Due to the consulting project referenced above, the earliest appointment that could be MUTUALLY scheduled was 11/1/2005. When making this followup appointment, it was explained to me that if the results were critical in nature, the doctor would have called and that 11/1/2005 was fine. My insurance expired on 12/31/2005, when applying for a new medical policy, I was declined due to "failure to follow up on cardiac results". After 7 days of trying to determine what the problem was, it boils down to some unclear notes the doctor has made in my medical file stating that I failed to follow up on my results. she was referring to the time between 10/4/2005 and 11/1/2005. I have tried contacting the doctor for the past 7 days to get a clarification made on her statements in my file. TO DATE the office will not cooperate and the doctor has refused to discuss this with me. The end result is that this my ability to obtain medical insurance has been directly compromised by this doctor. I am in the process of paying for a full physical with another doctor to try and get re-evaluated by the insurance company that declined my application.
I had since 9/9/2005 been seeing a chiropractor which has relieved the chest tightness etc with wonderful results. Due to Dr Ramsey and her ambiguous notations, I can no longer afford to continue this beneficial treatment due to my lack of medical insurance. Thankfully my echocardiogram results showed a moderate mitral valve prolapse which runs in my family and requires no medication. I am a 42 yr female with cancer and heart disease in my family history, without medical insurance my present and future healthcare has been severly hindered.
My opinion is to avoid this medical practice and find a doctor that is willing to work with the patient for the most informed and beneficial healthcare available.
