I went to this chiropractor after suffering an on-the-job injury while working at a temp assignment. The temp agency wasn't returing my calls, but I was still covered by COBRA and verified with the insurance company that they would absolutely cover my care and would seek restitution with the temp agency on my behalf. I explained this to the receptionist who made my appointment; she replied that there should be no problems under the circumstances. The so-called health care professional had a different opinion. After I went through the time and trouble of filling out all the forms and then waiting for him in the examining room, he refused to even examine me because he said he'd never get paid unless I put out the money up front. I explained to him that the insurance company had a 'pay and pursue' policy (their term), but he still couldn't be bothered. His claim was that it would take days before he got the official word from the insurance company and wouldn't lift a finger to help me in spite of my statement that I was in constant pain from the injury. Steer clear of this jerk. He has no compassion whatsoever and doesn't care about anyone but himself.
