Dr. Stothers was unaware of a surgical procedure that could successfully treat a borken collar bone. Instead he left my collar bone broken for five months. During this time I could not work and am self employed. At my last appointment with him, I showed him printouts from the internet showing him procedures that could correct my break. He said they are never successful and he would not recommend them. Instead he suggested I continue to wait. He was extremely rude when I pointed out that I had already waited five months and said it was not healing because of I was doing too much around the house. I then requested and received an alternative opinion (in Canada it is very hard to see another surgeon when one has already been selected for you). The second orthopod I saw said within 60 second that I required surgery and luckily did it on an emergency basis. Because this break was left untreated for such a long period of time, I still continue to suffer from a high level of pain as there was nerve/soft tissue damage as a result. If you are currently a patient of Dr. Stothers, I highly recommend you seek a second opinion before going any further with him. He is out of touch with the medical procedures.
