Dr. Whorton specializes in internal medicine, but he also specializes in pediatrics.

Here's what I like about Dr. Whorton:

1.  He is young and seems to have a genuine concern for patients and their families.  He does not come across as 'jaded' or money hungry as many other doctors do.

2.  He always makes me feel like me and my child are the only patients he is seeing.  I never feel like he is in a rush to get out of the exam room like I have with other doctors.

3.  He is objective and open to new ideas and methods of treatment.

4.  He is personal, friendly, and never condescending (as some pediatricians are).

Here's what I don't like:

1.  Sometimes there is a long waiting time in the waiting room or exam room.

2.  Sometimes Dr. Whorton is unavailable or on call and we have to see another doctor (but that happens everywhere, I suppose).

3. But here's the deal-breaker for me:   I have now called 3 different times to get an appointment for my sick child and was first asked for my child's name and/or insurance carrier, but then told 'we can't work you in'  OR 'you'll have to call back tomorrow between 7:45AM and 8:00AM and we MAY be able to work you in'.   Why would she ask my child's name and/or insurance carrier if she already knew she couldn't work us in THAT day?  As stated, this has happened 3 different times, so because of this, I have decided NOT to take my children back there again.  That's a shame, because Dr. Whorton is a great doc, but when my children are sick they need to see a doctor in a timely manner...not 'maybe' tomorrow.
